It's been over 6 months since my last post. So much for dedication!
My only excuse is laziness.Relying on motivation is not how books are written. I managed to make it 2 months into the summer without writing at all. I finally started again 6 days ago, and have already written 4.5k words.
I had given up. My mind and goals were in the wrong place. I began thinking too much about editing my manuscript, sending it to beta readers, getting it published... That's not how books are written. I lost sight of my dream, which is crafting a complete and complex story.
I am getting back on track. In 7 words, I will crack 40,000. That's assuredly less than halfway to completion. Rome wasn't built in a day.
My only goal at the moment is to work on my writing discipline. For the summer, I am aiming for 1,000 words a day. These past 6 days, I've averaged around 700. Once I'm back at college, I am aiming for 1,000 words every weekend. Even at the rate of 500 words per day in the summer and on weekends during the semester, I'll have another 20,000 words by the end of September. That's a goal.
My initial quarterly goals in January fell flat. I've created a rudimentary outline, but it is not full. This could fall anywhere between 90k and 140k words. I will still keep trucking, though.
It has been a year and 19 days since I started writing this book. I will complete it.
